Servindi, October 13, 2018.- More and more voices are coming together to reject the denialist politicians of climate change. One of those who recently expressed his rejection was the singer and former member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney who questioned Donald Trump through one of his new songs from his last album Egypt Station.
As was revealed by the British musician himself in an interview for the BBC, in his song “Despite Repeated Warnings” critiques the environmental position of the president of the United States. In the lyrics of this song Paul McCartney talks about a "crazy captain" who ignores climate change. When asked about who the singer was referring to, he answered clearly: "Obviously Trump."
In this way the former member of The Beatles takes a clear position against the environmental decisions taken by the government of Washington in recent years. "(We have) a crazy captain in command of the ship in which we all travel and that takes us straight to the iceberg despite warnings that it is not a good idea," McCartney said.
Environmental awareness
Certainly, this is not the first time that the singer expresses his solidarity with the environment. The British artist's commitment to ecology has its origins in 1968 when, while still a member of The Beatles, he made a spiritual retreat to India with the other members of the band. This trip, as they have expressed on more than one occasion, would change the world view in majority of the band.
After that trip The Beatles would publish its album White Album that would include several songs dedicated to the nature like Mother Nature's Son, composed by the own Paul McCartney and that is based on the principle of unit between the men and the nature.
Also in 2015, in parallel with the discussions that various politicians were doing in Paris as part of the COP21, Paul McCartney and a group of singers premiered the song Love Song to the Earth during the event, whose lyrics seek to stimulate environmental awareness. In fact, in those days the British singer said he was looking to "inspire world leaders to act against climate change."
